In 2007 the Sincresis Association collaborated for the realization of the State of Art’s project promoted by Councillor of Culture and Ceramics Project, Cesare Baccetti of the town of Montelupo Fiorentino, by the Montelupo Institution Culture & Promotion under Benedetta Falteri, general coordination, and Alice Pistolesi as tutor, and by the Museum System of Montelupo Fiorentino directed by Fausto Berti, with the support of the Bank Credito Cooperativo di Cambiano.
The aim was to find a point of union between the project of design according to formality and innovative trends and the ceramics and glass manufactory production of historic tradition in the territory.
In order to better value the work of typical materials of our geografic area, characterized by a laudable artistic handicraft industry, still active today, and to project it towards the actual experimentation in the visual arts and in the design, to collect stimuli and energies), so as to promote and guarantee new prospects to the qualification of the creative products, was the founding objective.
The students in the course of planning for their degree in Industrial Design of Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence attended a two month course. Their teachers, Gianpiero Alfarano, as director of the specific management of the course, and Gianni Veneziano, in close contact with the students, worked for the creation of an object of design that can combine two materials, ceramics and glass, with the theme of illumination. It was planned and made with the workmen of the local manufactures directed towards an interaction for a change in competence and to activate new itineraries of research.
In the attempt then, to create a synergy between young and future designers and company staff, a workshop for training was activated, which was characterized as an open workshop. The proposals of the new generations were oriented on one hand towards originality, attempting not to fall in the trap of imitations and “revival”, on the other hand the specific professionalism of the companies.
These companies last accepted the project and also participated also in moments of training to increase their knowledge in design, put in evidence technical particularities of working in evidence, and sometimes the necessity to adjust the conception and therefore the projected fantasy of the possibility to realize of the object and to guarantee its functionality.
In the workshop two artists also intervened, proposed by Sincresis, our association, Paolo Fabiani and Francesco Landucci, who presented the students their creative itinerary, to express the possible contaminations between art and design.
They exhibited a work in Montelupo Fiorentino for the occasion of the Ceramics Exhibition, Pulcinella’s Kitchen in ceramics in the outside spaces, near the manufactory by the Museum, and The tree of Life in crystal in San Lorenzo Church.
The days of the project alternated from days of study and project work at the base of the course of Industrial Design in Calenzano managed by the above mentioned teachers, with the support also of the Agency for the Development of Empolese Valdelsa, that attributed formative credits, and opportunity for the project tests in company to reach a presentation and awards for the best projects. A jury was appointed to indicate particular characteristics, from the originality, to the tight bond between aesthetics and functionality, from the reference to the symbolic connotation (meanings).
Energies, thoughts, capacities, knowledge involved in a project “in nuce” to be prepared, improved,if necessary with suitable devices, in order to foresee future prospects, that could mean the beginning of a collaboration, a dialogue, a comparison, of a concrete experimentation for the future.

Futurism 1909 – 2009, Real Palace, Milan; Futurism in Europe, Mart, Rovereto;
(The art’s places: Luigi Pecci Center of contemporary art, Prato, Villa Celle, Gori Collection, Pistoia, La Strozzina, Florence) with an additional cost for the guide and with travel expenses.
This program also foresees a overseas trip to visit the Museum of contemporary art in Bilbao.
The organization and the travel costs and with dates yet to be fixed will be indicated after the beginning of the course.
It will be possible to change the travel itinerary based upon the needs of those enlisted.

Artist’s book dedicated to Time

Project and realization of an artist’s book dedicated to time.
A brief introduction about artist’s book in contemporary art, with projections of artists’ works, and a practical part in laboratory, with demostractions and exercises on binding techniques and monotype printing. There will be an analisys of the different social and individual constructions of time to inspire and also create a calendar or a journal as artist’s book, as an unique edition or a circulation in many copies.
